How My Path Began
Well, where do I begin?
Living with chronic illness can be life-altering at any age. In my early thirties, I felt full of energy and possibility. I was settled in my career, newly married, social, busy, and deeply immersed in life. I was working hard, playing hard, and looking ahead to what felt like an exciting new chapter.
And then everything changed.
Almost overnight, I no longer felt like myself. I was exhausted constantly. Pain became part of my everyday experience. Activities that once brought joy felt overwhelming. Getting out of bed became difficult. Slowly, I lost parts of the life I once knew — my independence, friendships, work opportunities, and a sense of ease in my own body.
I was later diagnosed with Endometriosis, Connective Tissue Disease, Fibromyalgia, PTSD, Depression and Anxiety within a short period of time. My body felt like it was constantly in survival mode, but I knew, deep down, that life was not meant to feel this way.
So I searched for answers.
I explored everything available to me — Western Medicine, Yoga, Meditation, Mindfulness, Crystal Healing, Dietary changes, Acupuncture, Reiki, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Naturopathy, Massage, Saunas and Retreats. You name it, I tried it! Although, each offered support in its own way, something was still wasn’t connecting, something still was missing.
Until one quiet realisation changed everything.
I didn’t need more doing — I needed balance.
Not just physical balance, but emotional, mental, and spiritual balance too. This realisation marked the beginning of a deeper transformation.
As I slowed down, I began to truly listen. Through shadow work, meditation and deep reflection, I became aware of unresolved experiences from my childhood and earlier relationships — emotions I had buried in order to keep going. Guilt, shame, grief, and unmet needs had been quietly carried for years. When I finally allowed myself to acknowledge them, something shifted. I regulated my nervous system. This didn’t happen over night but with constant inner processing and releasing, big shifts emerged.
I began to understand the mind–body–spirit connection in a new way.
My body wasn’t failing me — it was communicating.
This understanding deepened further through my connection to Japanese philosophy and culture, inspired by time spent in Japan with my husband. The simplicity, calm, and reverence for imperfection resonated deeply. Through the concepts of Kintsugi and Wabi-Sabi, I found language for what I was experiencing.
Just as Kintsugi honours broken pottery by repairing it with gold, I began to see my challenges not as flaws, but as meaningful parts of my story. Wabi-Sabi taught me to embrace imperfection, simplicity, and authenticity — both in my healing and in my life.
I stopped resisting my body and began to honour it.
I simplified my life. I softened my expectations. I let go of the need to “push through,” and instead focused on listening, compassion, and self-trust. What emerged was not the life I had planned — but one that felt more aligned, intentional, and purposeful.
I went on to formally study Trauma Informed Coaching, Reiki and Crystal Healing — a turning point that changed my life. Over time, this path also led me into leadership within the Reiki community. Today, alongside my private practice, I am honoured to serve as the Executive Manager at Reiki Australia, supporting practitioners nationwide through education, professional standards, community, and advocacy for trauma-informed, ethical healing practices.
This professional role continues to ground and expand my work — bridging lived experience, spiritual wisdom, and practical leadership within the healing space.
This was the beginning of Vitality Seeker.
A space created from lived experience, deep reflection, and the belief that healing is not about fixing or becoming someone else — but about remembering who you are beneath the noise.
Today, I support others walking similar paths, offering gentle, trauma-informed guidance rooted in balance, awareness, and respect for each person’s unique experience. I am finishing my Diploma in counselling, to deepen my understanding of human behaviour and healing, in which I bring a compassionate and heart-led approach to all my offerings.
